Pharm Exam Tuesday

PLEASE NO MORE DRUG NAMES!!! I'm studying for my exam on Tuesday and am completely overwhelmed by all the classes side effects and contraindications of all these drugs. why can't things be simpler like the old days.... antibiotics? eat some mold. Heart problems? baby asprin (81mg).

Don't get me wrong. I'm extremely thankful for the medicines that exist today and espeically for those like my family who are alive due to them, I'm just frusterated that they are so difficult to memorize and retain. OK, enough complaining and procrastinating.

Pharmacology

Please pardon me while I have a little rant...
Why are there so many drugs with so many side effects that cost so much money that only certain countries use due to different drug administrations that all have different standards for purity on the drugs that all have different therapeutic windows, toxicities, and kinetics.
Also, why in the world does ONE drug have a trade name, a generic name, another trade name a few years later, and a chemical name as well??? Seriously people! Can't we just have one name for a drug that's already complicated enough?
Sigh. OK, I'm done. I know this doesn't pertain to most people who aren't memorizing hundreds of drug names right now, unfortunately I happen to be one of the few.
Guess I'm glad that I know a few of those hundred. Pressing on...
